Course Description

If you’re considering studying medicine but don’t know where to start… or getting to the final stages of interviewing at med schools – we are here to help you succeed! Get all your questions answered and get first hand guidance from current med students on how you can best maximise your chances of getting in to med school. Our tutors can guide and tailor fit a plan for what you need to do, and when, to get into your dream med school; including preparing GEMSAS applications or improving portfolios for the selection process.

Let your examiner know what stage you’re at:

  • Starting out – I’m considering medicine and need an expert to plan with me, what I need to do and when
  • Done my research – I want some insight into which med schools I should apply for
  • Applying – I need help with my med school application or portfolio
  • Preparing for interviews – I received an interview and need an expert to prepare me for the day

… and we will tailor the session to your needs.

Based on an examiner matching system, students will get to pick their examiner based on their personal needs. We manage your entire preparation and plan everything from interview questions and personalised feedback all to ensure that you will be well equipped with the skills and exam strategies to sit your MMI or submit your portfolio. All of our interview examiners are specialised and highly trained.

Meet our Team of Specialised GAMSAT Tutors

AMLAN

Hi everyone! My name is Amlan and I am currently in MD2 at University of Notre Dame. I also lead the Section 2 GAMSAT course at Halad as well as one of the MMI tutors. Having coached students for interviews for almost 2 years, I realised whilst the interview accounts for 50% of the selection process, it is the section most students neglect the most compared to GPA or GAMSAT.

I strongly believe without perfecting my interview skills, I would not have gotten into med on my first go straight out of undergrad or have been fortunate to receive a CSP place, offered to the top 25% of admitted students. With the knowledge you cannot cram or improve in interview skills overnight, the way I teach is all about having a systematic framework that you can put every answer. Furthermore, I will assist you in workshopping your experiences in a way for maximum impact and provide exemplar recording of high performing responses. Looking forward to working with you guys!

EMILY

I am currently studying a combined Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Melbourne, completing the MPH between my third and final years of medicine. Before medicine, I studied a Bachelor of Science, also at the University of Melbourne.

As an MMI tutor, I like to equip my students with the knowledge and resources to give the examiners exactly what they are looking for, while ensuring each students’ response is unique to them, and comes across as being genuine. I believe that empathy and personality can be conveyed in every station, and that anyone can do well on the MMI with practice, practice, and more practice!!

LUCY

Hi, I’m Lucy! I was fortunate enough to go straight from Biomed at Unimelb into medicine and I have just finished my third year of the MD/MPH program at the University of Melbourne. I find most students preparing for MMIs have great ideas but struggle to articulate and structure these ideas in a high pressure situation. My approach to tutoring for MMIs is to help students formulate a structure that they are comfortable with for the different types of stations so that they can best convey these ideas. My second secret to success is also helping students work on strategies to keep them calm, cool and collected on the day so that they can perform to their fullest potential.
